This is Your AI Playground, a publication as well as an education/experiential space for individual and communities to interact with AI. The idea of such a space has been prompted by the public launch of OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT on November 30, 2022, its early reception and the debate it has sparked. It also stems from the importance of insight in generating deep understanding from experience.
It originates from a personal belief that the sooner we help the greater number apprehend and understand new technologies the more we will be able to stir their development for the greater good and have public and informed debates about them. It is also influenced in its conception by CP Snow’s 1959 Rede Lecture ‘The Two Cultures and the Science Revolution’ and the more recent Gary Kasparov’s 2017 book ‘Deep Thinking: Where Machine Intelligence Ends and Human Creativity Begins’. In its lectures CP Snow warns of a potential split between science and humanities which will ultimately hinder us from solving the most complex problems, while Gary Kasparov books encourages us not to fear intelligent machine but rather work with them.
The first playground will be a weekly series of conversations with ChatGPT on selected topics, the ability for the community to comment on it ahead of a podcast with invited guests knowledgeable on the selected topic. All three spaces within the playground are designed as human(s)-machine interfaces.
Two questions of the conversation with ChatGPT will be present in all episodes. One will be to suggest guests for the podcast which will will then be invited to feature in the subsequent podcast. The second one will be on selected further readings on the topic.
